Exam Fever

Peace be upon all/Greetings PreU ASAS students/blog readers.....

All praise to Allah....
Kaifa halluk.... It's been a while since I updated and I'm sure everyone is itching to read the latest happenings at SMKASAS.

First and foremost, teachers who got their 'transfer'. Congrats to Mr. Stephen, Mdm Rebecca and Madam Salina. Madams followed thieir husbands (both in Kuching) while Mr Stephen....he would like to find greener grass...,no doubt, this experienced Science teacher is indeed a man of adventures. On behalf of the PreU ASAS community, our greatest appreciation to all, syukran, all the best in your new school and forget us not.

Next, we have five new female teachers, 'fresh from U', single, young and I'm sure they are eager to start their teaching career. They reported 24th November 2010 and started duty the following day. To date, they are still undergoing their 'orientation programme', trying to accomplish whatever 'tasks' required by the school. So far, so good. :) Congrats!!

And what's on now? The SPM and STPM examinations, of course!!!! All candidates are giving their best right now. We really hope that each and everyone of them will be rewarded with SUCCESS.. God willing. As teachers, we are always optimistic, we know the potentials in you. The last paper for both SPM and STPM candidates will only be on 16 December 2010. As teachers, our prayers are for your success

Madam Naimah giving her last words of advice. Info-STPM candidates gather at the Lecture Room before entering their examination rooms.
Before I end this entry, to all candidates, keep on striving hard and pray to Allah. That's all for now, be good and InsyaAllah, SUCCESS in this world and the Hereafter will be yours. We are sure you'll make SMKASAS proud. Amin.....

Counting the Days.....

Peace be upon all pre U ASAS students....

STPM is approaching.... to be exact only 33 more days.... and don't take for granted the saying...."How time flies...." Don't forget, you have not completed your MUET test..... Listening, Reading and Writing Components would be held on the 13th of November. To be awarded a MUET certificate (which valid for 5 years) you have to sit for all the 4 components or else RM60 gone down the drain.....Though some students still think that even if they don't score well this time, its okay because they could take the paper while at the higher institution later. Bear in mind, you're own your own and you desperately need a minimum band 3 to graduate. (Some courses require a higher band) Dear students, we, your MUET lecturers feel that there's no reason you could not get at least Band 3 this time. In fact, some should get Band 4, insyaAllah. Therefore...as the famous malay saying goes..."Tepuk dada tanya selera." It's all up to you now....We pray for your success. All the best from your MUET lecturers.

Love,
Mdms and Miss.

A new day....

Dearest preU ASAS community,

Praise Allah, its Monday again. Breathing in fresh air at SMKASAS is indeed a blessing from the Almighty. No pictures in today's entry and no specific topic. Lately, discipline cases (especially heavy ones) seem to be on the rise. These include those committed by public exam candidates (PMR, SPM, STPM).

As the more or most senior in school, it is hope that pre U ASAS students would be able to think rationally before ever thinking of being involved in any of the cases

In line with this worrying situation, as lecturers, we always make assumption that the Sixth formers are 'big' enough to think for themselves and we are sometimes wrong. A few actually still need to be pointed out what is wrong and what is right. Alhamdulillah, most are 'quite mature' already. Praise Allah.

In pointing out to students about discipline, some students sometimes misjudge the lecturers, as if we are finding fault. Well, honestly, you are wrong. Think positively. Our intention towards you all is always for the good. InsyaAllah. There's never hatred.

Anyway, do read the following article about thinking good thought which is in BM. Don't take it wrong as I am reminding myself also. Till then..... Maasalammah...

Bismillahirrahmannirrahim....

Study hard, work hard, burn the midnight oil, Stay up dan sebagainya. Kita bertungkus lumus berusaha agar kita berjaya dengan cemerlang. Namun, apabila keputusan peperiksaan keluar, kita kecundang dan kecewa. Ingatlah, kita mesti sentiasa husnuzon.

"Belated" Report on Upper 6th Formers Trip to Kuching (MENJULANG KECEMERLANGAN STPM 2010)

Assalamualaikum..... Greetings.....

Just got the pictures from Miss Lyn. The upper 6th formers of Pre U ASAS trip to Kuching was from 2nd to 4th of August 2010. They were accompanied by Mr Rahim, Miss Lyn, Mdm Norhayati and Ustaz Amal.

For the 3 days and 2 nights trip, they stayed at "Biro Wanita".

One of the activities was visit to UNIMAS. They were given motivational talk and they also had the chance to view the beautiful surroundings of the campus. The main activity was of course talks on scoring for the coming STPM. Speakers were invited experienced teachers from Kuching. Tips and approaches to answering STPM papers were indeed very valuable input to all Upper 6th formers. InsyaAllah, every student will 'score' this year. Amin...

Accompanying teachers also brought the 6th formers to 'unwind' after the 'serious content' of the trip. The stroll in the capital city of Sarawak included Sarawak Museum, India Street and pheewit.... The Spring.

In a nutshell, every one was happy. They packed later on 4th August afternoon and returned to SMKASAS by the school bus driven by Mr. Sitora.

That's all for the time being. It will be quite a long break after this before the next post. Till then, SHR and MZB.

Wassalam,

Merdeka Raya

Peace be upon all/greetings, and of course, Salam 1Malaysia (patriotic eh?)

As Merdeka Day (to be followed by Malaysia Day) approaches, and amid the calls made by 'Jabatan Kemanusiaan' (Miss Lenny-Senior teacher) to decorate classes with the Jalur Gemilang, the preU ASAS students gathered at the school foyer on Monday 16th and Wednesday 18th for a special activity. The idea was initiated by the Form 6 Teacher in-charge of co-curricular activities, Mr Abdul Rahim Alim and was supported by all form 6 lecturers.
On Monday, form 6 students enjoyed a very 'relaxing activity', colouring the Jalur Gemilang and followed by colouring the 'Sarawak flag' the following Wednesday. These flags to be 'produced' by the sixth formers would later be used to decorate their tutorial classes.

While colouring, prizes for best colloquium presentations were given away by Miss Marilyn (Head of Research). Not only the best grabbed gifts, consolation prizes were distributed too.

Pre STPM 1 Examination has just begun this morning with the MUET Reading component first on the list. OMR answer sheets have been marked and for Upper 6 2, Farris scored the highest! Congrats!!!
More papers to come. Do manage your time well, pre U students. God willing, you're on the right path.

Anyway, its 8th Ramadan. So far so good? Congrats again, count your blessings for being a part of this beloved school.

That's all for now. Maassalaamah.....

Fun-filled Days

Peace be upon all....

Since the last blog entry, there were 'tonnes' of activities in SMKASAS. No doubt, tiring but, more important, they were enjoyable. :)

"Hari Permuafakatan" was held on the 10th of July. The Lower Six students offered their sevices to enlighten the teachers' tasks and ensured the 'smooth flowing' by showing parents directions to the classrooms. There were stalls set up at the school foyer as it was also the Vocational and Technique week.

On the same day, it was the Teacher's Day Celebration Betong Level which was held at SMK Saratok. Congrats to Us Shahrizan for being awarded "Anugerah Kecemerlangan Ko-kurikulum". SMKASAS also grabbed 14 other awards regarding academic achievement.
Next, the Upper Six colloquium has started. To date, 4 groups have presented their research work and the lecturers were satisfied with all presentations so far. All groups proved that they had the 'expertise' in creating outstanding slides.

A few selected Lower Six students girls (6 students) were lucky enough to be appointed as facilitators to SKAAR Primary School Students for "Kem Bestari Solat" at Saratok Jamek Mosque, 15 and 16th July. Congrats...., in line with our school slogan "Dunia Cemerlang Akhirat Cemerlang" InsyaAllah, your contribution for the camp really made up proud. These few managed to handle the 'hyper-active' Years 4 and 5 children very well. Community service activity is one of the areas to be fulfilled by the Pre-U students.
Last but not least, "Perkhemahan Rakan Muda 1 Malaysia" will start in a couple of hours once this entry is published. Once again, the Lower and Upper Sixth formers' service is very much sought after. All the best and do have a happy time.
Signing off,
Ma'am

Peace Be Upon All/Greetings....
